Ratan Tata passes away

Mumbai, Oct 10: Ratan Naval Tata, the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the Breach Candy Hospital following age-related health conditions. He was 86.
Tata was admitted to the hospital on Monday, sparking intense speculation on his health status in corporate, political and common circles. Later, he had issued a statement that he was undergoing certain routine medical examinations for age-related health concerns.
Subsequently, he was reportedly put on life-support systems, though the Tata Group officials did not confirm or deny anything.
Chairman, Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran said, “It is with a profound sense of loss that we bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a truly uncommon leader whose immeasurable contributions have shaped not only the Tata Group but also the very fabric of our nation.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to Ratan Tata, describing him as a visionary business leader, compassionate soul and an extraordinary human being.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi said Ratan Tata was a man with a vision “who has left a lasting mark on both business and philanthropy”. (IANS)
