SHILLONG, Oct 23: The United Democratic Party (UDP) on Wednesday said the party has decided against contesting the Gambegre bypoll following feedback and communication from the party leaders in Garo Hills.
The party is yet to decide on extending support to its coalition partner NPP for the bypoll.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said, “In the last Assembly elections also we did not field our candidate in Gambegre and during the ADC polls also we contested 19 seats but did not field any candidate from there.
“We also have to look at the grassroots support at the constituency level,” he added.
