SHILLONG, Oct 25: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar on Friday said the state government will construct around 40-50 km of roads in the city to replace the smart roads which have been abandoned due to non-feasibility.
“We abandoned the smart road project after facing complications. In place of that we are trying to construct new roads covering around 40-50 km in the city,” Dhar, who is the Urban Affairs Minister, said.
The PWD has prepared an estimate for almost all the important roads in the city, he said, adding, “We will soon get good roads in the city.”
Pointed out that the state government is facing criticism over the implementation of the Smart City Project, Dhar said, “We are in the process of improving everything and all will fall into place. Have patience.”
