SHILLONG, Oct 29: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bangalore Unit on Tuesday lodged an FIR with the Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, Sylvester Nongtnger, against a woman named Silvia Tham, also known as “Anisha” (Instagram username: QueenbeB), for allegedly mocking the Khasi community on social media.
KSU Bangalore Unit president Donboklang Nongphud stated in the FIR that they became aware of an individual, known by the Instagram handle “QueenbeB” and the name Anisha, whose real name is Silvia Tham from Nohwet, Pynursla in East Khasi Hills. He alleged that Tham has been engaging in offensive behaviour toward the Khasi community on Instagram.
Nongphud said that the individual, under the alias Anisha or QueenbeB, has consistently mocked the Khasi community through live videos on Instagram, using verbally abusive and derogatory slang.
He emphasised that such behaviour is not only deeply offensive but also has the potential to incite hatred and disharmony among communities.
“I request you to kindly register a First Information Report (FIR) against Silvia Tham (Anisha) under the relevant sections of the law that pertain to hate speech, incitement to violence, and promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.,” the KSU Bangalore Unit president stated.
Nongphud urged that swift and decisive action be taken against Silvia Tham (Anisha) to uphold the law, protect the dignity and rights of the Khasi community, and send a strong message that such actions will not be tolerated in society. He appealed to the SP to initiate the necessary steps to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate legal action against the individual in question.
