Shillong, Oct 29: Five talented athletes from Meghalaya are set to represent their state on the national stage in the upcoming Mr. India competition, scheduled to be held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from November 8-10, 2024.
Organized by the World Fitness Federation and backed by the Meghalaya Bodybuilding & Fitness Association, the event promises to bring together top athletes from across the country in various fitness categories.
The Meghalaya contingent includes Pritam Sunar from Gold’s Gym in Jowai competing in the Bodybuilding category, Akash Choudhary from Power House Gym in the Men’s Physique (Tall Class), Pynioladmi Pala from Satar Gym Ummulong in the Men’s Physique (Short Class), Daman i Mahrhen Pohktai from Raimon Gym Amlarem in the Denim Jeans Model category, and Larisa Syiem from Flag’s Fitness First Gym Shillong competing in the Glamour event.
All five athletes have been under the expert guidance of trainer Baniaiphira Manik Syiem, a professional bodybuilder and trainer at Flag’s Fitness First Gym in Mawroh, Shillong. The team’s rigorous training has spanned over a year, with focused preparation for the Mr. East India 2024 competition held earlier this month at St. Anthony’s College in Shillong. At that event, Meghalaya athletes made a strong impression: Pritam Sunar claimed the overall championship in Bodybuilding, Akash Choudhary took the title in Men’s Physique (Bermuda), Daman i Mahrhen Pohktai won the Denim Jeans category, and Larisa Syiem earned top honors in the Glamour Event (Women), while Pynioladmi Pala secured his place in the Mr. India competition.
