By Our Reporter

Shillong, Oct 30: Shillong Lajong won their second consecutive match to extend their hold on Group E of the Meghalaya State League 2024 by beating Seinbhalang Shktentalang 6-2 in Wahiajer on Wednesday thanks to a Kynsaibor Lhuid hat-trick.
Kynsai (18’, 37’, 90’+5) scored twice in the first half and once in the second and there were also goals from his team mates Abhay Chettri (3’) and Deibormame Tongper (16’, 20’). However, Lajong, the 2019 MSL champions, did not have it their own way as S Shktentalang netted twice through Tip Rasmut (36’) and Teibormi Tariang (71’) to give their fans something to cheer about.
In Group B, Sutnga had to come back from conceding early to defeat Riangdo Youth 4-1. Riangdo’s Batskhemlang Thongnirit (3’) netted first before Sutnga powered their way back into the game through Skhemborlang Rupai (35’), Raplangki Lyngdoh (54’), Cheerfulness Shadap (77’) and Deligent Pdang (90’+4).
Elsewhere, Lumsohkhlur pipped Pinggera Do•gisik 2-1 in Group A in Tura. Here Hellocomet Marbaniang (13’) and Richmond Nongsiej (44’) scored on either side of Rakanchekam R Marak’s 37th minute goal, with the score line not changing after the first half.
In Group C, Tyrsad hosted its first match in MSL history and Ladthadlaboh secured a 1-0 victory over local side Mawlum Tyrsad with the lone goal provided by Rangdajied Sayoo in the 20th minute.
Over at Khliehriat, in Group D, it ended goalless between Mulait United and Iatyllilang Lumsehkot Raliang, while Group F saw Riborlang Dkhar (44’, 90’) score a brace for Pynursla United to win 2-0 against Patharkhmah in Shillong.
There will be just the one match on Thursday, between Mawtari Myrdon and 7 Wasa United in Group E at Wahiajer, with kick-off slated for 2pm. Shillong Lajong’s emphatic 6-2 win over Seinbhalang Shktentalang in the Meghalaya State League showcases their clear intent to dominate Group E and reclaim their former glory as MSL champions.
Kynsaibor Lhuid’s hat-trick was undoubtedly the highlight, complemented by quick strikes from Abhay Chettri and Deibormame Tongper that effectively sealed the game early on. However, Shktentalang’s response through goals from Tip Rasmut and Teibormi Tariang proved that they, too, were here to fight, offering their supporters moments of celebration despite the final scoreline.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Sutnga showed resilience by rallying from an early setback against Riangdo Youth, ultimately securing a commanding 4-1 victory. Riangdo’s early goal from Batskhemlang Thongnirit looked promising, but Sutnga’s comeback reflected the spirit and depth of the squad, with four different players contributing to the score.
Lumsohkhlur’s 2-1 win over Pinggera Do•gisik in Group A, thanks to goals from Hellocomet Marbaniang and Richmond Nongsiej, and Ladthadlaboh’s narrow victory over Mawlum Tyrsad in Group C added to the day’s mix of intense contests.
