JOWAI, Oct 31: The Hynniewtrep Achick National Movement (HANM) in West Jaintia Hills, led by its president Wankishwa Mawlong, has urged the Executive Engineer of the PWD South Division, urging immediate attention to the deteriorating Jowai old bypass road.
It may be noted that the stretch of road, from Lad-Nartiang Mihmyntdu to Jingkieng Myntdu Caroline Colony, has been neglected for many years.
In its letter, the HANM highlighted the urgent need for repairs, emphasising that improvements would greatly benefit locals and reduce traffic congestion in Jowai.
In response, the Executive Engineer has assured that construction on the road will commence in the coming months.
Meanwhile, HANM has said that it is hopeful for timely action and is looking forward to the government prioritising the repair of this vital roadway.
