SHILLONG, Nov 1: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pyniaid Sing Syiem on Friday confirmed that he will contest the upcoming district council election, scheduled for early next year, from the Nongthymmai constituency.
Syiem, currently the MDC of the Sohryngkham constituency, also announced that he will formally join the NPP Nongthymmai Block unit soon.
“I will be formally inducted as a member of the unit either this month or in December,” he stated.
However, he noted that he has no information on the candidate the party will field from the Sohryngkham constituency, following his resignation as a primary member of that unit.
When asked about his reasons for leaving the Sohryngkham constituency, Syiem said he had previously outlined the factors behind his decision.
It may be noted that Syiem, a two-time MDC from Sohryngkham, had unsuccessfully contested the 2023 Assembly polls from Mawryngkneng constituency, where he was defeated by VPP MLA Heavingstone Kharpran.
