Man held for sexually harassing passenger on flight
PANAJI, Nov 20: Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on charges of sexually harassing a woman co-passenger on a flight from Delhi to Goa on Wednesday.The alleged incident took place between 11 am and 1.20 pm on Tuesday on board the Air India flight, as per the FIR.The 28-year-old woman, resident of New Delhi, told the police that when the plane was airborne, the man, who was sitting on the seat next to her, pulled over a blanket and allegedly started indulging in objectionable acts.The man purposely kept the blanket open at the side of the victim during the act, as per the FIR.The woman filed a police complaint against the man after the flight landed at the Goa International Airport.The airport police later arrested the man, identified as Jitender Jangian, hailing from Haryana. EV showroom owner arrested after fire kills woman
BENGALURU, Nov 20: The owner of an electric vehicle showroom in Rajajinagar was arrested on Wednesday in connection with a fire that claimed the life of a 20-year-old woman.Police identified the accused as 36-year-old Punith Gowda.The fire occurred at Gowda’s showroom on Tuesday evening.According to the police, five to six people were present inside the showroom when the fire broke out. All of them managed to escape, except for Priya, the cashier, who got trapped. She died from asphyxiation and severe burn injuries.The fire destroyed over 45 electric scooters.Priya’s charred body was recovered and later handed over to her family after post-mortem. (PTI)
Woman gets life term for burning alive daughter-in-law
MAHARAJGANJ, (UP) Nov 20: A local court has sentenced a 70-year-old woman to life imprisonment for burning alive her daughter-in-law here over dowry demands.The court also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000 on her.The incident took place on December 20, 2017.A sessions Judge awarded life sentence to Kaushalya, guilty of killing her daughter-in-law Arti Gaur (23) for failing to meet her dowry demands.Kaushalya had was set Gaur on fire by pouring oil on her.The victim’s father J had lodged an FIR against Kaushalya in this connection. Gangster surrenders before court wearing burqa
NEW DELHI, Nov 20: A UP-based criminal, who was also wanted in a case of firing outside a businessman’s house here and demanding extortion from him, surrendered before a court here wearing a burqa, saying he feared Delhi Police might kill him in an encounter.Sohail Khan, 25 is suspected to be associated with agang which was allegedly involved in the firing incident outside a businessman’s house.The accused threw a note demanding Rs 15 crore as extortion. They wrote the names of gangsters belonging to the gang on it. He entered into the court wearing a burqa to evade his arrest. After his surrender before the court, he was arrested by the police. (PTI)
