TURA, Nov 21: The 71st All India Cooperative Week concluded on a colorful note with various cooperative workers and government departments taking part at Baghmara Baptist Church Hall.
South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner R.Yanthan, while highlighting the role of cooperative societies in generating revenue for the government, said it is the effort of the Centre to bring prosperity through Cooperation by the year 2047.
The DC also said that it was in July 2021 the Cooperative Department became Ministry of Cooperation, directly supervising all cooperative-related activities in the state and the nation as a whole. “Since cooperatives have become the backbone of many rural functions which are performed by different departments like Agriculture, housing, Banking etc. it plays an important role in reaching the unreached sections of the society,” he added.
