SHILLONG, Nov 22: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Friday said the ongoing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for recruitment to the Meghalaya Police was suspended due to a glitch in a measuring instrument.
“Yesterday we had taken a decision to restart the whole thing because some technical defect happened in the instruments. I had told the Central Recruitment Board to postpone the PET. It will take one or two weeks for everything to fall in place again,” Tynsong, who holds the Home (police) portfolio.
Explaining the glitch, he said the instrument calculates the number of rounds completed by a candidate. “Those who completed the full round were shown as incomplete; therefore we did not want to have any doubt and decided to cancel it.”
The Central Recruitment Board of the Meghalaya Police had on Thursday suspended the ongoing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) over certain “deficiencies”.
In a press statement, IGP-cum-chairman of the CRB, Dalton P Marak said new dates for the PET will be announced at a later date and equal opportunity will be given to all candidates.
“It has been brought to the notice of the Central Recruitment Board that there were deficiencies in the Physical Efficiency Test conducted at 1st MLP Battalion, Mawiong and 4th MLP Battalion, Sohpian in the last four days (from Nov 18 to 21),” Marak said.
Tynsong also cautioned the candidates to be wary of scamsters, especially those who promise them successful recruitment on payment basis.
