Second-phase M’laya-Assam boundary talks

By Our Reporter

SHILLONG, Nov 27: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has attributed the delay in the second phase of Meghalaya-Assam boundary talks to various complications, including multiple elections and other pressing issues that have tied up the state government.
Speaking on the matter, Sangma revealed that both states had been communicating on the matter.
“But these complications have delayed the talks. We hope the discussions will resume soon,” Conrad said.
It may be mentioned that the statement from the chief minister comes days after Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had said they were awaiting a meeting of the chief ministers of Meghalaya and Assam to confer about the future course of action regarding the second phase of interstate border talks.
Even the regional committees, which were established to oversee inspections of the disputed areas, have yet to conduct any surveys or submit reports.
