SHILLONG, Nov 27: Naphisabet Jana from Lakmé Academy, Shillong, has won the hair and make-up competition in the 48-hour filmmaking challenge at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024, Goa, organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MoI&B).
The challenge was part of the Creative Minds of Tomorrow (CMOT) programme, which celebrates emerging talent across India.
In a statement here, Lakmé Academy Powered by Aptech congratulated Jana on her achievement, while informing that this year, the CMOT selected 100 candidates from across the country, specialising in 13 trades essential to filmmaking, including Direction, Acting, Hair & Makeup, and Editing.
These candidates were divided into five teams to participate in the intense 48-hour filmmaking challenge, the statement said.
As a part of CMOT, Jana was involved in beauty and grooming for IFFI & CMOT’s leading artists, assisting them on-ground for theatrical makeup, and providing her hands-on experience in the world of fashion and beauty while still being a student of the academy.
“In the challenge, she won the hair and makeup competition, along with her team, winning Rs five lakh as prize money,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, reacting to her success, an elated Jana said this experience would help her confidently tread the path in the future.
“I am extremely happy to win the Hair & Makeup 48-Hour Challenge at this globally renowned International Film Festival of India and I’m honoured to be a part of Creative Minds of Tomorrow. This opportunity to experience and try my hand at theatrical beauty in a real, live setting is huge.
