Boy kills friend who demanded money for damaged phone
Valsad, Dec 1: A teenage boy was detained for allegedly killing his friend who demanded money to repair the mobile phone damaged by him in Gujarat’s Valsad district, police said Sunday. The accused took the 16-year-old victim to an abandoned building and pushed him into the elevator shaft, leaving him with grievous injuries. He smashed the victim’s head with a brick and hid the body using bricks and bushes, police said. (PTI)
Worker killed as under-construction tunnel collapses
Kota, Dec 1: A worker died and three were injured when a section of an under-construction tunnel on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway collapsed here, police said on Sunday. The incident took place in the Modak police station area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. The 4.9-km green overpass tunnel is being constructed under the hills of the Mukundra Tiger Reserve. (PTI)

Plaint against man over claim that he can hack EVM
New Delhi, Dec 1: Mumbai Cyber Police has lodged an FIR against a man who claimed he could hack EVMs by isolating machine frequency, Election Commission (EC) officials said. The complaint in the matter was lodged by the Maharashtra chief electoral officer (CEO), alleging that the claims made by the accused, Syed Shuja, were false, baseless and unsubstantiated, they said. The FIR was registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act at Cyber Police Station, Dakshin Mumbai on November 30 “against the person in this video”, the CEO said. (PTI)

7 maoists killed in gunfight with cops
Hyderabad, Dec 1: Seven Maoists, including a key leader of the outlawed group with a Rs 20 lakh bounty on his head, were killed in an exchange of fire with the police in Mulugu district of Telangana on Sunday morning, police said. Among those killed was Kursam Mangu alias Bhadru, a Telangana state committee member and the Yellandu-Narsampet area committee secretary of the banned CPI (Maoist), along with a woman cadre, they said, adding that six of the seven slain Maoists were natives of Chhattisgarh. Drunk man booked for hoax bomb threat call
Mumbai Thane, Dec 1: A 34-year-old man was booked on Sunday for allegedly calling up Navi Mumbai Police control room and threatening a series of bomb blasts in the satellite city of Mumbai, an official said. The accused, identified as Christopher Anthony Dias, was under the influence of alcohol when he called up the police control room at around 5 a.m. (PTI)
