M’laya Karatekas to take part in 68th Nat’l School Games

Shillong, Dec 8: The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association has proudly announced that a contingent of 18 Karatekas will represent the state of Meghalaya at the prestigious 68th National School Games 2024-25.
The event is set to take place in New Delhi from December 9-15, 2024, and is expected to showcase some of the most talented young athletes from across the country.
Leading the Meghalaya team are Donboklang Lyngdoh, Arjun Sewa, Glikerius Buhphang, and Barisha Kharbani, all experienced athletes who are keen to guide the younger generation of participants toward success. These athletes have been preparing rigorously under the aegis of the association, which has worked tirelessly to ensure the state is represented at its best.
The team includes participants competing in various weight categories in the Individual Kumite events. Among the boys, Eric Banteinam Ryngnga will compete in the -35 kg category, while others like Badondor S. Ryntathiang (-40 kg), Bameshanlang Sawkmie (-45 kg), and Ferrando Wanniang (-50 kg) are also set to showcase their skills. The team also boasts talents like Mehashuanki Buhroy (-54 kg), Athokpam Ethan Sanglien Khawbung (-58 kg), Daniel Dabiangbha Warjri (-62 kg), Aventinus George Mylliem (-66 kg), Abhradeep Aguan (-70 kg), and Nowmi Mayer F. Ryngkhlem (-74 kg).
In the girls’ category, participants include Sandasuklang Myrthong (-32 kg), Phibanylla Eleanora Thongni (-40 kg), Esaranaki Kharjana (-44 kg), Dominica Phidahun Kharbani (-48 kg), and Mebapynhun Marngar (-52 kg). The higher weight divisions will see Sa-I-Banmanbha S. Blah (-56 kg), Emika D. Myrthong (-60 kg), and Sherry Pangniang (-64 kg) competing. Each of these athletes has earned their spot through hard work and dedication, reflecting the depth of talent within the state.
The National School Games, an annual event organized to promote sports and athletic excellence among school students, is a platform where the next generation of Indian athletes often emerges. For Meghalaya, participation in such a significant event is not just about competition but also an opportunity to showcase the state’s rich talent on a national stage.
As the Karatekas gear up to leave for New Delhi, the hopes and prayers of the people of Meghalaya travel with them.
