SHILLONG, Dec 8: Rambrai-Jyrngam’s sitting National People’s Party (NPP) MDC, Bajop Pyngrope, has hinted at the possibility of contesting from a different constituency in the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections, slated for early next year.
“There are still many constituencies where the ticket has not been announced. Let us see how things shape up,” Pyngrope said, clarifying that he did not apply for the party ticket to seek re-election from Rambrai-Jyrngam.
He expressed respect for the decision of the Block Executive Committee (BEC) to recommend  former MLA Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang—his brother-in-law—for the party ticket. “I also respect the party’s decision to award the ticket to Marbaniang,” Pyngrope added.
He further stated that he would support and campaign for Marbaniang to ensure his victory in the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, Pyngrope noted that the NPP is preparing rigorously for the elections to both the KHADC and JHADC.
“We are confident that the people will repose their faith in the party,” he said.
