SHILLONG, Dec 11: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) has welcomed the decision of the Meghalaya Medical Recruitment Service Board (MMRSB) to issue revised results for the written examinations for Staff Nurse and Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) positions, cancelling the previous results announced in September due to alleged irregularities.
The KSU, along with the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU), had raised concerns over anomalies in the earlier results during a meeting with Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on September 30, demanding the cancellation of the same.
The MMRSB had advertised 164 vacancies for Staff Nurse and 78 for ANM, with the written examinations conducted on September 21.
On Wednesday, KSU Employment Monitoring Cell Chairman, Reuben Najiar, revealed that the Health Department’s Grievance Cell received 101 complaints from candidates regarding the earlier results. The candidates were also allowed to review their answer sheets to ensure accurate evaluation.
Informing that the revised results were announced on December 9 after rectifying the discrepancies, Najiar said, “We urge the various recruitment agencies of the government not to play with the future of the unemployed youth. We would appeal that there should be proper screening before announcing of the results of any recruitment examination to fill up the vacant posts in the various government departments.”
As per the notification issued on December 9, the MMSRB informed that they would verify documents of those who have cleared the qualifying examination.
The MMRSB Chairperson, in the notification, acknowledged errors in the earlier results, including typographical mistakes in the answer key for multiple questions across different sets.
According to the chairperson, grace marks were awarded to candidates affected by these errors, provided they had attempted the questions. However, no marks were given to those who left the questions unanswered.
The updated results were uploaded on the Health Department’s website (www.meghealth.gov.in). Document verification for the qualified candidates will begin on December 13, with candidates called in descending order of merit as per the vacancies advertised.
In cases where candidates secured equal marks, their rank in the merit list will be determined by age, with older candidates placed higher. If discrepancies in documents are found during verification, candidates will have a 72-hour window to rectify them. No submissions will be accepted beyond this period.
