Five nabbed in Rishikesh train robbery case
Rishikesh, Dec 15: Five men were arrested for allegedly carrying out an armed robbery in a passenger train near Motichur between Haridwar and Rishikesh, police on Sunday said. The Haridwar unit of the Government Railway Police (GRP) made the arrests at Ghaziabad Railway Station. GRP Inspector-in-charge Anuj Singh said the looted goods and the weapons used in the crime have been recovered from the accused. The robbery took place Friday night and was reported by Prabhav Shukla, a resident of Mahavir Nagar in Firozabad district. Singh said four teams of the ‘Special Operation Group’ of the Railway Police were formed to solve the case. The five arrested were found to have dozens of cases between them lodged in Saharanpur and Moradabad. During interrogation, it was found that they also broke into four shops in Rishikesh’s Shyampur area on December 11 at midnight. (PTI)
8 children hurt in LPG cylinder blast in MP
Mauganj, Dec 15: At least nine persons, among them eight children, were injured after an LPG cylinder exploded at a government-run hostel in Madhya Pradesh’s Mauganj district, an official said on Sunday. The blast occurred at a hostel for scheduled caste boys in Naigadi, around 40 km from the district headquarters, around 11 pm on Saturday, the official said. As many as eight children and a cook were injured in the explosion, he said. District collector Ajay Shrivastava said after preliminary treatment at the community health centre in Naigadi, the injured persons were sent to Rewa for further medical attention. Prima facie, it appears that an LPG cylinder exploded, he said. The official said the injured boys were in the age group of 15 to 17 years, and one of them lost a leg in the explosion. (PTI)
Ram Mandir like temple to come up in US
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 15: A temple modelled after Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir will be constructed in the U.S. by the Swami Satyananda Saraswati Foundation in Pearland, Houston, for the global Hindu community. As part of the Kerala Hindus of North America conference, the foundation aims to perform a Balalaya Pratishta ceremony at a powerful, divine location on November 23, 2025. The process of submitting the key components of the temple to local authorities has already begun. The first phase of construction is expected to be completed by November 24, 2026. This phase will include a large ashram, Hanuman Pratishta modelled after the Ayodhya Temple, and other deity installations along with family temple concepts. By November 24, 2027, the formation of a global financial institution will take place to promote Sanatan Dharma and strengthen Hindus worldwide. Additionally, the establishment of the Sanatan Hindu University will be completed, aimed at integrating Vedic knowledge with modern sciences. The coordinator of the project Ranjith Pillai said that this initiative aims to officially link the new temple with their family temples. The new temple will be located facing the famous Sri Meenakshi Temple. (IANS)
