Curtain comes down on platinum jubilee celebrations of JH village

JOWAI, Dec 28: The Dorbar Shnong Khimusniang in Jowai officially concluded its platinum jubilee celebrations on Saturday, marking the village’s 75th anniversary with joy and festivity.
The jubilee, which began on December 6, featured a variety of programmes celebrating the milestone.
The concluding ceremony was attended Rajya Sabha member by, WR Kharlukhi, as the chief guest, alongside local MLA and MUDA chairman Wailadmiki Shylla, village head A. Lamare, past and present village leaders, locals, et al .
In his address, Kharlukhi highlighted the village’s transformation over the years, noting its growth in knowledge, progress, peace and unity.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Jowai and the Jaintia Hills and pledged support for Dorbar Shnong Khimusniang through the MP scheme.
During the programme, it was shared that the Dorbar Shnong Khimusniang was established in 1949 by 16 prominent leaders, the names of whom have been inscribed on a foundation stone.
Other highlights of the celebration include a report presentation by Secretary of the Platinum Jubilee Committee E. Suting, a speech from the Chairman of the Souvenir Committee, performances by the Kids Choir and Seng Khynroo Khylood, and the release of a souvenir book.
