NONGPOH, Dec 29: The body of 18-year-old Pynshailang Malieh from Nongjri village, who had been missing since December 21, was discovered in a river near Sohliya village on Sunday.
Malieh, who reportedly had a mental disorder, went missing from his home at 8 am on December 21, prompting a search by his family and local authorities.
Acting on information, a team from Umsning Police Station, accompanied by the victim’s family, located the body submerged in the river.
The body was retrieved in the presence of relatives, and all necessary formalities were completed at the scene.
Police officials stated that no injury marks were found during the inquest, suggesting drowning as the likely cause of death. However, the body has been sent to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for a post-mortem to rule out any foul play.
