Assault
Chaman Barma verbally reported that on January 1 evening, one Manoj Sharma (31) was found lying unconscious at Nongmensong Market, Shillong, and it is suspected that the person was assaulted by unknown miscreant(s). Later, the person was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital.
On January 1 around 10.30 pm, unknown miscreant(s) assaulted one Deva Kharkongor (27) at Jhalupara Market, Shillong. As a result, the victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Shillong Civil Hospital from where he was referred to NEIGRIHMS.
Theft
Basishtha Thakuria lodged a complaint that on December 28, 2024, unknown miscreant(s) stole one Remote Radio Unit (RRU) valued around 1.2 lakh from a tower at Bamil, Mangsang, East Garo Hills.
Silsan Marak lodged a complaint that on the morning of December 30, 2024, unknown miscreant(s) stole his motorcycle (ML-08K-3673) from Jerusalem, Tetengkol, Tura.
Ranjan Kumar lodged a complaint that on early December 30 morning, unknown miscreant(s) stole his Maruti Eeco van (ML-05U-8757) from his residence at Lumsohphoh, Shillong.
On December 27, 2024, night, unknown miscreant(s) stole one motorcycle (ML-04C-9919) from Jowai, West Jaintia Hills.
On December 28, Lokash Sangma appeared at Resubelpara Police Station and verbally reported that unknown miscreant(s) stole his scooter (ML-13A-6351) from Mendipathar Bazar area, North Garo Hills.
Break-in
Tengham G Momin lodged a complaint that on December 29, 2024, unknown miscreant(s) broke into his quarter at MLA Hostel (Staff quarters), Police Bazar, Shillong, and attempted to commit theft.
Bangladeshi nationals nabbed
On January 1, acting on inputs, police conducted a check at Old Anjalee Petrol Pump, Shillong, and intercepted four Bangladeshi nationals, viz. Akhtar Sheikh, Rupa Begum, Raju Ali and Taijul Islam, who were travelling in one tourist taxi (ML-05X-6502) driven by one TN Sohshang. The intruders had illegally entered into the Indian territory from Nongjri village, East Khasi Hills, with the intention to proceed towards Jammu and Kashmir.
Contraband items seized
On January 1, acting on inputs, police intercepted one Ekramul Hussain and two women, viz. Nihar Begum and Monjuwara Begum at 15th Mile under Byrnihat Outpost, and seized from their possession 22 soap boxes containing 254.16 grams of suspected heroin. Other items that were confiscated were four mobile phones and Rs 58,380 in cash.
Robbery
Johnstar N Sangma lodged a complaint that on December 27 around 6.30 pm, six unidentified miscreants armed with machete waylaid his motorcycle at 13th Mile, West Garo Hills, and snatched away cash, amounting to Rs. 90,000, from him.
