Wild elephants trample man to death in WGH

TURA, Jan 6: In another tragedy following a case of man-animal conflict, one person was killed on Monday morning in the village of Kurung Saltop under Tikrikilla police station in West Garo Hills.
The incident took place at about 5 am when the deceased, Harwit Marak (62) went out of his house at a time when a herd of wild elephants happened to cross his path. He died on the spot from being trampled by the pachyderms.
The village in question is close to the designated elephant zone which sees regular movement of elephants during various times of the year depending on the availability of food.
