Cold claims one life in East Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG, Jan 8: An unidentified male aged around 60-70 years froze to death on the intervening night of January 3-4 in East Jaintia Hills, police said on Wednesday.
Police said the homeless victim was seen in and around Saipung and Bamkhowsngi area of East Jaintia Hills before his body was recovered from a footpath.
Police said they were informed of the incident by the headman of Bamkhowsngi.
Police suspect that the deceased died due to cold and added that the post-mortem was conducted at Khliehriat Civil Hospital where the body has been kept for identification and claim.
