SHILLONG, Jan 9: President Droupadi Murmu unexpectedly cancelled her scheduled visit to Meghalaya on Thursday morning.
All preparations had been made, and the stage was set for President Murmu to inaugurate the golden jubilee if ICAR research complex and the Farmers’ Expo 2025 at Umiam in Ri-Bhoi. However, just hours before the programme, her visit was called off.
Officials from ICAR reported that the President’s flight from New Delhi could not take off due to unfavourable weather conditions, forcing the sudden change in plans.
Despite the setback, the programme proceeded as planned with Governor CH Vijayashankar, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in attendance.
