SHILLONG, Jan 12: The Meghalaya government has emphasised the importance of field visits by ministers and officials to better understand public concerns and ensure effective implementation of development initiatives.
The field visit initiative was one of the key outcomes of the two-day cabinet retreat chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma at Sohra, which concluded on Saturday.
During the retreat, discussions centered on addressing challenges in education, health, and infrastructure, with a focus on achieving Meghalaya’s Vision 2032 goals.
The Chief Minister urged the departments to adopt a collaborative approach, with clear goals and regular reviews to ensure progress.
He highlighted the value of on-ground interactions, stating that field visits provide insights that cannot be captured through reports alone.
“Connecting with the public directly helps identify real challenges and needs,” Sangma said.
The Chief Minister also directed the deputy commissioners to implement similar programmes at the district level, involving their respective teams.
