Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s team has now issued an official statement saying that the actor is stable and is out of danger now.
The actor is being monitored by a team of medical professionals as he sets out on the path of recovery.
The team said in its official statement, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe and the police are investigating the incident”.
The statement further read, “We would like to thank Dr Niraj Uttamani, Dr. Nitin Dange, Dr Leena Jain and the team at Lilavati hospital. Thank you to all his fans and well-wishers for their prayers and thoughts during this time”.
The actor was stabbed multiple times in an attempt to fight off a burglar during the wee hours of Thursday. The actor sustained six stab wounds, two of which are said to be serious as they are closer to his spine.
The incident took place at 2:15 am when the burglar allegedly barged into their Bandra home, and attacked their house help and then Saif when he intervened.
At the time of incident, his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan was present at home along with other members of the family as they all were sleeping. Saif was woken up by the commotion in his son Jeh’s room.
He went inside the room to see the culprit arguing with their house help, looking at this, Saif intervened to save the house help with bare hands to fight off the culprit.
The Mumbai police have started the investigation and are accessing the CCTV footage. Three accused have been reportedly detained, and are subjected to interrogation.
Earlier, the actor’s manager had issued a statement detailing the incident.
The manager said at the time, “There was an attempted burglary at Mr Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery.
We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation”.
2.5 inches of knife found from actor’s wound
Saif Ali Khan was reportedly attacked with a 2.5 inch knife by an assailant who barged into his Bandra house through his youngest son, Jeh’s room. The actor sustained six stab wounds, two of which are said to be serious as they are closer to his spine.
Kareena, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu spotted at Lilavati Hospital
Family members and close friends have been gathering at Lilavati Hospital after hearing the news Saif’s attack. Saif’s wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan was spotted outside the hospital. Saif’s sister Soha Ali Khan and brother-in-law Kunal Kemmu also visited the hospital to keep a check on Saif. Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim also came to meet their father.
Saif sustained a thoracic spinal cord injury, as per Dr Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital. He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine.
A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid,” the doctor informed.
Saif also got deep wounds on his left hand and neck, the doctor informed. “Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now,” Dr Dange added.
One of the accused attacker has been identified
Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9 of Mumbai Police, who is part of the team investigating an attack on Actor Saif Ali Khan said that one of the accused has been identified.
“It has been discovered that the accused used the fire escape to enter their house. So far, the investigation suggests that it was an attempted burglary.
We are making every effort to arrest the accused as soon as possible. Once he is arrested, we will be able to disclose further details,” he said.
“One accused has been identified. He used the staircase to enter, and teams are in the field to arrest him.
There are 10 detection teams working in different directions,” DCP Gedam added.
Celebrities express shock, wish for actor’s speedy recovery
A string of Indian film personalities such as Jr. NTR, Chiranjeevi, Pooja Bhatt and Kunal Kohli have expressed their shock after learning that Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan was injured during an attempted burglary at his residence, sustaining six stab wounds.
Jr NTR, who worked with Saif in the film Devara: Part 1 took to Twitter and shared a picture with the Nawab.
He captioned the image: “Shocked and saddened to hear about the attack on Saif sir. Wishing and praying for his speedy recovery and good health.”
Star Chiranjeevi Konidela shared “Deeply Disturbed by news of the attack by an intruder on #SaifAliKhan Wishing and praying for his speedy recovery, he wrote.
“Shocking & Scary incident. Praying for Saif’s speedy recovery. #SaifAliKhan,” wrote filmmaker Kunal Kohli on X, formerly called Twitter.
Filmmaker Pooja Bhatt talked about “Law and Order”. “Law & Order. We have laws.. what about order?”
Bollywood actor Neil Nitin Mukesh wished Saif “get well soon”. He wrote: “My prayers with Saif sir and the entire family.
This is very sad indeed! May your bravery and love for your family be rewarded with healing, strength, and peace. Get well soon #SaifAliKhan”. (Agencies)
