Cabinet okays continuation of NHM for 5 more years
New Delhi, Jan 21: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved continuation of the National Health Mission for another five years. Briefing reporters about the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting, Union minister Piyush Goyal said the Mission has met historic targets in the last 10 years. Goyal pointed out that nearly 12 lakh healthcare workers joined the National Health Mission (NHM) between 2021 and 2022 and India fought the COVID-19 under the Mission. (PTI)
Drunk man kills 20-year-old son in Maharashtra
Nashik, Jan 22: A man from Maharashtra’s Nashik has been arrested for allegedly killing his 20-year-old son during a fight, an official said on Wednesday. Accused Vitthal Gunjal and his son Anil would quarrel almost daily over trivial issues at their home in Amrapali slums in the Upnagar area, the police official said. On Tuesday night, both got into a fight after becoming drunk. During the fight, the Vitthal hit Anil with a heavy object, seriously injuring his son. Anil succumbed to the injuries in a hospital on Wednesday morning, the official said. The father has been arrested on murder charges. (PTI)
Shah to launch projects in Gujarat today
AHMEDABAD, Jan 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Gujarat on January 23, during which he is scheduled to inaugurate a host of projects. Shah will inaugurate ‘Hindu Spiritual & Service Fair’, also known as Hindu Adhyatmik Seva Mela, at the Gujarat University Ground, a release issued by his office said. Shah will then inaugurate a newly-built cancer hospital and a sanatorium on Dumas Road in Surat city. He will then return to Ahmedabad and inaugurate two underpasses in Sabarmati and New Ranip area, the release said, adding that Shah will also lay the foundation stone of two projects in Ranip area of Ahmedabad.
