TURA, Jan 24: The Sangknigre regional unit of the ACHIK has filed an FIR, alleging corruption and anomalies in the implementation of the Rekonanggre Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) Scheme.
The FIR against contractors and responsible officers was filed on January 21 with the Officer In-charge of the Sangknigre police station.
“As per the detailed project report (DPR), a total amount of Rs 74,07,540 was sanctioned for the project. However, significant discrepancies have been identified, which raises serious concerns about the misuse of public funds,” the FIR filed by ACHIK president, Mansrang Ch Marak, claimed.
According to Marak, the security fencing around the zonal reservoir was found to be missing despite an amount of Rs 9,32,150 having been sanctioned for the same.
Marak added that the RCC Ringwell, which was to be constructed to a depth of 12 metres, was only around three-metre deep, resulting in shortage of water supply to the village.
The complainant then claimed that no approach road was constructed by the contractor concerned despite an amount of Rs 94,200 being sanctioned.
Pointing out that the irregularities not only highlight financial misconduct but also undermine public trust and jeopardise the intended benefits of the project for the local community, Marak demanded an investigation into the matter as well as legal action against the contractors and officers concerned.
A copy of the RTI reply, DPR as well as photographs and other evidences, highlighting the discrepancies in the project implementation, were enclosed along with the complaint.
