Building, shop gutted in fire at Jhalupara

SHILLONG, Jan 27: A building and a shop were gutted in a massive fire at Jhalupara locality on Monday afternoon. According to preliminary reports, the blaze which occurred at around 3:30 pm gutted a building that also housed a shop. The property belongs to Sharda Pradhan.
While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, authorities have launched an inquiry.
Four fire tenders were deployed to contain the fire, and their swift action prevented the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
There was no report of any casualty in the fire.
Incidents of fire are quite common in Shillong during the dry season.
