TURA, Jan 27: The Adokgre unit of the AHAM and the A’dokgre Organic Farmers’ Cooperative Society, along with local nokmas and sardars and the people from the area has sought the renovation of dilapidated schools in the area in the interest of the local children.
A memorandum in this regard was on Monday, jointly submitted by the group to Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma. In the memorandum, the group sought the renovation of schools from the area including- Memilam LP School, Nangilding LP School, Jajil LP School, Dobangal LP School, Ildek Reserve LP School, Dosaram LP School, Reking LP School, Chigrang LP School, Waramja LP School, Gorok LP School and the Tinsimina LP School, which have been in dilapidated state for many years.
According to the two organizations, the classes of the students were being disrupted mostly in the rainy season as the classrooms, roofs and walls were in urgent need of repair due to structural damages.
Pointing out that the restoration of these schools to their original forms was crucial to uphold the fundamental right to free and compulsory education for every child, they urge the Education Minister to look into the matter, for the benefit of the students.
