Class XI student dies by suicide in city school

SHILLONG, Jan 28: A 16-year-old student of Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Jail Road, tragically ended her life on January 24, according to a delayed report.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed the incident on Tuesday, stating that the Class XI (Arts) student took her own life inside the classroom after appearing her examination.
The police received the report on the evening of January 24. The student left behind a sombre suicide note, expressing her struggles and despair.
“People say problems will disappear or resolve, but in reality, it does not happen,” her suicide note read.
As per reports, a relative reached out to the school authorities informing that the girl had not reached home following which the school staff searched for her in and around the school premises.
When the staff went to the classroom of Class XI (Arts) they found it locked from inside. After breaking open the door, they entered the room to find the lifeless body of the student who had hanged herself.
The body was handed over to her family after the post-mortem examination.
