Man accused of killing wife, 4 daughters held

LUCKNOW, Jan 28: A man accused of killing his wife and four daughters with the help of his son has been arrested, police said.Badar alias Badruddin and his son Arshad allegedly committed the murders on December 31, 2024, at a hotel in the city.While Badar was held on Monday, Arshad was arrested shortly after the incident came to light.Badar tried to consume a poisonous substance during his arrest but the attempt was thwarted by police personnel.In a purported video of Arshad that surfaced on social media, he confessed to slitting the wrists and throats of his sisters and mother, claiming that he took the step due to alleged harassment by some members of his community in his hometown Agra. 2 girls among 3 killed in Burari building collapse

NEW DELHI, Jan 28: Five people, including two girls, were killed in the four-storey building collapse in north Delhi’s Burari area, on Tuesday.The newly-constructed building collapsed late on Monday. So far, 12 people have been rescued and five bodies retrieved from the debris.The victims have been identified as Saadhna (17) and seven-year-old Radhika. The other three persons -all men -are yet to be identified.Police said a rescue operation was underway and more people could be trapped under the debris.Delhi Police said it received information about the collapse around 7PM.Soon after a full rescue operation was launched. Girl falls to death from staircase

THANE, Jan 28: A six-year-old girl died after falling from the staircase on the fourth floor of a residential building in Dombivli. The girl’s father demanded that a case of negligence be registered against the building’s developer for inadequate safety measures. The family were visiting Dombivli to attend a puja hosted by the relatives who live in the building when the tragedy took place.While playing, the girl fell from the fourth floor, police said.“My daughter’s life was cut short because the parapet wall of the staircase lacked protective net,” her father said.
