Guwahati, Feb 5: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated an upgraded terminal of Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport at a programme held on the premises of the airport here on Wednesday.

Notably, the refurbished terminal at the airport is aimed at enhancing passenger convenience, experience and ease of travel, with entry lanes increased from eight to 14. Departure lanes have been increased from three to four, along with four new DigiYatra gates.

Moreover, the security check-in area has been expanded from 300 to 450 square metres with added screening queues and new furniture.

A 140-metre architectural wall has also been constructed, along with 300 square metres of new gardens.

The refreshed terminal also features upgraded retail, food and recreational facilities for a more comfortable travel experience.

The chief minister said the entire work was planned and executed in two months with a view to promote the LGBI airport and welcome all the delegates for Advantage Assam 2.0 in a decked-up environment.

He also expressed hope that the new terminal being constructed at the LGBI Airport will also be completed in the last part of the current year.
