SHILLONG, Feb 4: The Meghalaya government has decided to relax Para 2(4) of a 2010 office memorandum, which previously did not allow the stepping up of pay for senior employees when a junior employee in the same cadre received a higher salary under the Assured Career Progression Scheme (ACPS).
This decision comes after the state government’s attention was drawn to the provisions of Para 2(4) of the O.M. No.F(PR)-76/2009/54, dated February 22, 2010.
A notification issued by the Commissioner and Secretary of the Finance department, D Vijay Kumar, stated that after due consideration, the Governor of Meghalaya has approved the relaxation of Para 2(4). As a result, stepping up of pay for senior employees to match that of their junior counterparts will now be permitted on a case-by-case basis, provided they belong to the same cadre.
It was also informed that cases previously approved by the Finance (Pay Revision) department before the issuance of this office memorandum have now been regularised by the Cabinet.
