SHILLONG, Feb 8: Buoyed by its victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Meghalaya is confident about its prospects in the upcoming Member of District Council (MDC) elections.
Contesting the MDC polls in Meghalaya after a long gap, the party believes that the momentum from its Delhi triumph will translate into electoral success in Meghalaya.
Addressing media during a celebratory gathering at the party office in Shillong, BJP general secretary Wankitbok Pohshna said the party’s win in the Delhi Assembly elections has significantly boosted the morale of party workers.
“The workers are now more determined than ever to take our message to the people. We will tell voters to look to the BJP for real change,” Pohshna said, expressing optimism about securing all seats in the MDC polls.
He reiterated the party’s commitment to good governance, urging the people of Meghalaya to give the BJP a chance.
“The people of the state should now look towards the BJP. We are ready to bring transparency, development and effective governance to Meghalaya,” Pohshna added.
Earlier in the day, jubilant BJP workers celebrated outside the party office in Shillong by bursting crackers and raising slogans in support of the party’s victory in Delhi.
The BJP believes this enthusiasm will carry forward into the MDC elections, strengthening its position in the state’s political landscape.
With the elections approaching, the BJP has also intensified its campaign, aiming to make a significant impact in Meghalaya’s political scenario.
