IOA confirms M’laya as host of 39th National Games in 2027

SHILLONG, Feb 9: Meghalaya has officially been confirmed as the host for the 39th National Games in 2027.
Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri on Sunday announced that both the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the central government have accepted Meghalaya’s request to host the Games.
As per officials, while Shillong will be the main host city for the 39th National Games, Tura and Jowai will also host various sporting disciplines during the event.
The state has been upgrading its sports facilities, including the JN Sports Complex in Shillong, Wahiajer Stadium in Jaintia Hills, and the PA Sangma Integrated Sports Complex in Tura. These projects are part of Meghalaya’s initiative to boost sports development across the state.
