Special leave

In view of the upcoming KHADC and JHADC election, a special leave has been allowed to all central government employees who are electors under the constituencies of the Councils on February 21, being the day of polling.

Siren testing

The installation of electrically operated siren in the office of the Deputy Controller, Civil Defence, Tura, has been completed and it requires testing for emergency operational use. In this regard, the Deputy Controller’s office has said that the siren is to be tested on February 17 at 10 am for a duration of one minute. It has urged the general public not to panic while the siren is being tested.

Postal ballot

Postal Ballot Facilitation Centre has been set up at the District Library Hall, Nongpoh, the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi informed in a statement issued here. All officers, staff and drivers on election duty including all notified absentee voters in the category of essential services are requested to submit their application for postal ballot latest by February 14 (4 pm). The last date of voting is on February 19.

Control room

In view of the upcoming KHADC poll, a 24×7 Control Room has been set up in Room No. 217 of the office of the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills in Shillong. The control room contact numbers are 2501109 and 2501203.

Scholarship

Applications are invited by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs for athletes who have brought laurels to the state in regional, national and international-level tournaments during the year 2024-2025. The scholarship is also applicable to athletes who have not yet applied for the year 2022-2024. Detailed guidelines and application form can be obtained from the office of the Director of Sports and Youth Affairs department or from the state sports associations. The last date for submission of application form is on or before March 4, 2025.
