Group clears air on apprehension of members over extortion in Tura

Tura, Feb 17: The Garo Students’ Union- Central Executive Committee (GSU – CEC) has cleared air over the apprehension of four of its members over charges of extortion recently in the Nakham Bazaar area in the town of Tura.
According to an earlier report that was based on police sources, 4 members of the CSO were picked up by the police before being brought to the PS for questioning over allegations of extortion. They were later let off as no official complaint had been made.
The group, on Monday, addressed the matter and asserted that no arrests had been made in the case and the members were only picked up for questioning from the Nakham Bazaar area and were not arrested, as was earlier reported.
