Mawkyrwat, Feb 21: UDP candidate from Mawkyrwat Constituency Jeslanroy Nongsiej and VPP candidate from Mawkyrwat Constituency Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin have expressed their confidence in winning the ADC elections from Mawkyrwat.
Speaking to media persons, UDP’s Nongsiej said that he is sure of winning the election from almost all the polling stations since the majority of the voters have shown their trust in him.
Meanwhile, VPP candidate Kharjahrin said that in this election the fight is between the general public which supports the VPP against all other political parties and therefore he is confident of winning.
Meanwhile, in Langrin Constituency, UDP candidate and sitting MDC Pius Marwein has exuded confidence that he will win the election as he has consistently worked for the people of the constituency for more than five years.
Speaking to media persons after casting his vote, Marwein said that he does not doubt winning the election since the people will judge him for his work all these years.
Meanwhile, the HSPDP candidate from Mawkyrwat Constituency, Polanding Sohphoh thanked the voters for exercising their right and promised that he would continue to work with the people.
Congress candidates confident of winning
Congress candidates from Sohryngkham and Nongthymmai constituencies, Jonathan Syiem and Alan Victor Lyngdoh have exuded confidence in their victories from their respective seats.
Talking to reporters after casting his votes, Lyngdoh said that his fight in this election is against money power.
He also said that they have witnessed in the previous elections that money power does not work in the constituency since the electorates are alert. He also claimed that TMC sitting MLA from Nongthymmai Charles Pynrope has fully extended his support to him. Meanwhile, the party candidate from Sohryngkham said that the party prioritises preserving and protecting the customary practices and culture of the Khasi indigenous tribes.
He said that the party is committed to protecting and empowering the traditional institutions and strengthening the provisions of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
Syiem also appealed to the electorates to come out in large numbers to cast their votes.
