Ri Bhoi police fines traffic violations, collects Rs 18000

Nongpoh, Feb 22: Ri Bhoi police collected Rs 18,000 in penalties against traffic violations during a vehicle inspection drive here on Saturday.
The district police conducted an inspection drive along the National Highway-6 to penalize traffic violators, including reckless driving, failure to wear seat belts, riding of two-wheelers without helmets, and trucks moving in the wrong lane.
During the inspection, the police collected Rs 5,000 fines from compound cases and Rs 13,000 from pending challans, bringing the total amount to Rs 18,000.
The violators will have to clear their pending challans in court.
Senior police officials took the opportunity to educate motorists on the importance of adhering to traffic rules to ensure the safety of all road users.
