Guwahati, Feb 25: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) continues to set new benchmarks in preparing students for national-level competitive exams. In the recently declared results for the UGC-NET exams held in December 2024, more than 50 students from USTM have successfully cleared the prestigious examination.

Under its unique ‘Pay Back Policy’, USTM will reimburse the entire course fee to these NET-qualified students as a reward for their outstanding achievement.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, stated, “USTM remains committed to empowering students by expanding our coaching programs, ensuring they not only succeed in national competitive exams but also emerge as leaders in their respective fields. We offer financial incentives to encourage and motivate students, reinforcing our belief that no deserving student should be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints.”

He further highlighted that USTM’s coaching initiatives go beyond academics, incorporating soft skills training, interview workshops, and motivational seminars to prepare students holistically for their academic and professional journeys.

Dr. Trishna Thakuria, Director of USTM’s University NET Forum said, “To inspire students to qualify for NET, GATE, SLET, IAS, and other high-level competitive exams, USTM offers financial incentives through its Pay Back Policy. Our NET Forum conducts regular coaching sessions every day after 4:30 PM to help students prepare extensively for the UGC-NET exams.”

As part of its Outreach Mission, USTM also provides free coaching for NET, SLET, GATE, Banking, Staff Selection Commission (SSC), and other government competitive exams through its Centre for Competitive Examination. The NET Forum, an integral part of this center, has been successfully guiding students since 2017.
