SHILLONG, Feb 26: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma is likely to meet his Assam counterpart, Himanta Biswa Sarma after the Budget session for the next round of talks to resolve the interstate border dispute.
Sangma on Wednesday admitted that he and his Assam counterpart had planned on several occasions to hold discussions on the border issue but programmes or elections have foiled their plans.
The CM was optimistic that the next meeting would be held after the Budget session of the State Assembly.
The second round of talks between the two states has gone off the track with the CM-level talks not being convened for a long time. Both states have constituted regional committees which have been tasked with inspecting the remaining six disputed areas, hold consultations with the locals and accordingly submit a report to the respective state governments.
