TURA, Feb 27: The Secretary of the Rajabala Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills has accused the Land and Revenue department of the GHADC, of encroaching into school property and illegally demarcating land belonging to the school, without the consent and permission of its authorities.
The incident reportedly took place on February 26, when GHADC officials claimed the area to be within Kaas land and illegally demarcated it.
“The Rajabala Higher Secondary School is a reputed institution operating with the help of government funds and hence the landed property belongs to it. It is not Kaas land but in fact public property,” SMC Secretary of the school, Hadisul Islam said.
Islam claimed that the landed property which was gifted by his forefathers in 1952 for setting up the school, geographically falls under the Non-Scheduled Area of Garo Hills Districts under Mouza –VI 3lot and therefore could not be occupied by the GHADC.
