Shillong, Feb 28: Newly elected KHADC CEM Shemborlang Rynjah said that they are committed to putting in public place a proper recruitment policy to ensure there is transparency in the recruitment process in the council.
According to him, they fear that the lack of a proper recruitment policy would lead to the problem of disguised employment.
“We are committed to putting in place a transparent recruitment policy in the council at the earliest,” he said, adding that anyone who is appointed as a staff in the council should come through a proper channel and based on merit.
The new CEM asserted that they will not allow any kind of favouritism and nepotism in the recruitment process.
“The appointment in the council should not be according to the whims and fancies of someone,” Rynjah said.
The new EC will examine if there is a need to amend the existing services rules of the council to bring about transparency in the recruitment process, he added.
Replying to a query, he said that his EC will follow up on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with an agency, CRISP by the previous EC to introduce a recruitment policy in the council.
“But I want to make it clear that we will take corrective action on any policy which we feel is against the interest of the council and local indigenous tribe,” Rynjah added.
