SHILLONG, March 6: Amid discussions on interventions and measures to ease congestion in the city, UDP legislator from Amlarem constituency drew the attention of the house to a simple yet crucial issue that often goes unnoticed or is ignored for years, contributing to traffic woes.
“When we talk about congestion and decongestion, there is one truck that met with an accident and has been lying in Madanrting for over a year. When will it be removed?” asked Rymbui, raising a supplementary question during the question hour, prompting laughter from the House.
Rymbui pointed out that the truck, which remains on the side of the road, is causing significant inconvenience, contributing to congestion, and posing a danger to pedestrians and vehicles alike.
He also highlighted that several accident vehicles have been parked outside the Lumdiengjri police station for an extended period.
In response, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma acknowledged the concern.
He explained that while there are many ongoing issues, smaller yet important matters sometimes get overlooked. He also mentioned similar situations in Tura and assured the house that officials would be directed to take immediate action.
