Nongpoh, March 8: A motorcyclist died on the spot, while the pillion rider sustained severe injuries after their speeding two-wheeler crashed into the rear of a stationary truck on the NH-6 near Erpakon village in Ri Bhoi on Saturday.
According to reports, the accident occurred around 7 p.m. when the motorcycle was heading towards Nongpoh from Shillong. Overspeeding led the rider to lose control of the motorcycle and rammed into the back of a stationary truck parked on the highway.
The district police rushed to the scene and initiated an investigation. The injured was taken to Nongpoh Civil Hospital, while the body of the deceased was sent for postmortem examination.
