Man dies after accidentally shooting himself during scuffle
NEW DELHI, March 16: A 21-year-old man died after accidentally shooting himself in the chest during a struggle with his father in northeast Delhi’s Bhajanpura, an official said on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Sachin Kumar, police said, adding that his father works as a security guard in a private organisation.After returning home on Thursday night, Kumar engaged in a heated argument with his family, police said.In a fit of rage, he grabbed his father’s licensed double-barreled gun and threatened to take his own life, they added.As his father attempted to wrest the firearm from him, the gun accidentally discharged a bullet, hitting Sachin in the chest.He was immediately taken to GTB Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Illegal B’deshi immigrant residing in Delhi nabbed
NEW DELHI, March 16: Delhi Police have apprehended a Bangladeshi national, Afazuddin Gazi alias Gazi, who was residing illegally in the capital. He was arrested from Mohammadpur, RK Puram, and the process for his deportation to Bangladesh has been initiated by the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).Afazuddin Gazi, 40, hails from Saigura village in Dhaka, Bangladesh.A police team apprehended the suspect, who initially claimed to be from Malda, West Bengal. However, after sustained interrogation and verification, his true identity was revealed.During questioning, Gazi admitted that he had studied up to the second grade at a madarsa in his village and has two brothers and two sisters. In 2022, he illegally entered India through the Benapole-Petrapole border, facilitated by a tout named Rafiq for Rs 4,000. (IANS)
Maharana Pratap’s descendant dies at 81 in Udaipur
JAIPUR, March 16: Arvind Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile royal family of Mewar and chairman of the HRH Group of Hotels, died in Udaipur early on Sunday after prolonged illness, his family said.He was 81.A descendant of Rajput king Maharana Pratap, Mewar had been ill for a long time and under treatment at his residence in Udaipur’s City Palace.His funeral will be held on Monday.As a mark of respect, the City Palace will be closed for tourists till Monday.Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, his predecessors Ashok Gehlot and Vasundahra Raje and several other leaders expressed sadness at the erstwhile royal’s passing.
