Meghalaya Kickboxers set for India League Pro Open National in Siliguri

Shillong, March 17: A strong contingent of 11 state-ranking kickboxers from Meghalaya, including four female and seven male athletes, has arrived in Siliguri to compete in the highly anticipated Kickboxing India League Pro Open National. The event, sanctioned by WAKO India Kickboxing Federation, will take place at City Center Mall, Siliguri, West Bengal, from March 17-19, 2025.
The Meghalaya squad is led by General Secretary Fourwell Khongmalai and Coach Bantiplang Khongwir of the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA), Shillong. The athletes will compete across multiple disciplines, including Low Kick, Full Contact, and K1 Rules.The Meghalaya contingent for the tournament includes four female and seven male kickboxers. In the female category, Careen Judy Kharkamni will compete in the -52kg Full Contact event, Indahun Iawphniaw and Ibankyntiew Iangrai will participate in the -48kg Low Kick event, while Daniella I Wanda Mylliemngap will compete in the -60kg K1 Rules event. Among the male athletes, Winningstar L. Nonglait and Raymond Jyrwa will compete in the -48kg Low Kick event, Shanlang Khongsit and Shailesster Mylliem in the -51kg Low Kick event, Obadaiah Kelphung and Fedrick Khongsit in the -54kg Full Contact event, and Juh Pa U Juh Nongtdu in the -60kg K1 Rules event.The team underwent rigorous training at Team Revolution Gym Training Centre in Firebrigade, Lumpyngngad, Shillong, before their departure to Siliguri.
Speaking on the occasion, MSKA Hony. Working President Lorenzo Pearson Warjri, who also serves as an Executive Member of WAKO India Kickboxing Federation, expressed confidence in the team’s preparation.
“The athletes have put in immense hard work and dedication, and we are hopeful of a strong performance at the national level. This tournament is a crucial platform for them to showcase their skills,” said Warjri.
