Meghalaya kickboxers shine at nat’l championship in Siliguri

Shillong, March 21: Meghalaya’s kickboxers delivered an impressive performance at the Kickboxing India League Pro Open National, held from March 17-19 at City Center Mall, Siliguri, West Bengal.
Among the standout performers, Daniella I Wanda Mylliemngap (-60 kg, K1 Rules), Juh Pa U Juh Nongtdu (-61 kg, K1 Rules), and Fedrick Khongsit (-54 kg, Full Contact) secured the coveted Title Belt along with a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each.
On the other hand, in the runner-up positions, Careen Judy Kharkamni (-60 kg, K1 Rules), a student of Women’s College Shillong, and Ibankyntiew Iangrai (-48 kg, Low Kick), a Class X student of Pine Mount Higher Secondary School, Shillong, put up commendable performances.
Adding to Meghalaya’s medal tally, Shanlang Khongsit (-51 kg, Low Kick) from Umpling Donglum Surok, Shillong, and Raymond Jyrwa (-48 kg, Low Kick) from Nongrah Nonglum, a student of Providence School, Laitumkhrah, clinched bronze medals in their respective categories.
