KHADC presents Rs 34.44 cr vote on account budget

SHILLONG, March 26: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Executive Member in charge of Finance Seiborlang Warbah on Wednesday presented a Rs 34.44 crore vote on account budget for a three-month period during the first day of the council’s three-day budget session.
The vote on account, totalling Rs 34,44,55,600, will be effective from April 1 to June 30 this year.
Warbah explained that the Executive Committee (EC) was unable to present the full budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal due to limited time. He assured that the complete budget will be introduced in the next session of the council.
He stated that the vote on account will enable various departments to manage necessary expenses expected during the specified period.
He emphasised that the budget aims to cover salaries for the council’s members, including chairman, deputy chairman, leader of the Opposition, executive members, officers, and staff from executive, legislative, and judicial departments.
Warbah highlighted the new EC’s commitment to promote transparent and corruption-free governance.
“We will implement certain austerity measures to improve the council’s financial condition,” he said.
Meanwhile, KHADC Chief Executive Member Shemborlang Rynjah presented the Comptroller and Auditor General’s report for the financial year ending March 31, 2020.
He also tabled the executive committee’s report concerning the suspension of the Syiem of Nobosohphoh Syiemship as well as the reports on the elections of the Sirdar Laitkroh Sirdarship, and the Wahadadar Shella Confederacy.
